The Howe Foundation

Our Mission

The Howe Foundation is dedicated to sharing the life-long passion for sports with everyone, focusing on two core missions:

  1. Kids First: Guided by the legacy of Mr. Hockey®, Gordie Howe, the Howe Foundation strives to help kids participate in sports, from taking their first skates or kicks to competing internationally and attending top-tier schools—regardless of whether they pursue a professional path.
  2. Women in the Business of Sports: In honor of Mrs. Hockey®, Colleen Howe, the Foundation empowers women to advance in the sports industry through education, experience, and a supportive network, fostering growth and leadership.

At the Howe Foundation, we believe that sports and the business of sports can shape lives and inspire generations, helping all involved carry forward values that endure.

Statement from Mark Howe

"The Howe Foundation was created by my mother and father with the long term goal of being able to give back and help out those who could use a helping hand for years to come. Both of my parents had help along the way during their youth that helped them to advance in life. They wanted to be able to do the same for others by making a difference in someone's life, just as someone had done for them years ago. My goal is to continue that mission on their behalf. I cannot think of a better way to honor their memories and their legacy."

Statement from Marty Howe

"The Howe Foundation was started by my Mother and Father and has been a part of our family for as long as I remember. As a family we will try to keep the Howe Foundation active to help keep the great game of hockey alive and well for the next generation."

Statement from Dr Murray Howe

"I am honored to be a part of the Howe Foundation. Both of my parents lived to enrich the lives of others and the Howe foundation accomplishes this by making it possible for more kids to experience the sport of youth hockey. This empowers the next generation, and  builds bridges between kids, communities, and nations."
